How to Correctly Test the Peel Strength of Adhesive Tapes

The peel strength tester is a professional tensile testing machine designed to evaluate peeling, breaking and other performance of adhesives, adhesive tapes, self-adhesive labels, medical plasters, protective films, release papers, composite films and similar products.
Test Procedures
1、Condition the adhesive tape samples for 24 hours in an environment at 23±1℃ and relative humidity of 50±5%RH./
2、Wipe the surface of the stainless steel plate 4 times with high-purity alcohol, then let it stand for 10 minutes to dry.
3、Remove the top 4 layers of the adhesive tape. Cut test specimens with a width of 24 mm and a length of 300 mm from the remaining tape using a cutting knife.
4、Fold one end of the specimen (adhesive side inward) to form a folded section of approximately 12 mm. Attach the other end of the specimen to one end of the steel plate, then roll over it twice with an adhesive tape roller at a speed of 600 mm/min.
5、Peel the folded end of the tape off the steel plate for about 25 mm. Clamp the steel plate end and the free end of the tape into the upper and lower fixtures of the KJ-1065 peel strength tester respectively.
6、Set test parameters including test speed at 300 mm/min and specimen width at 24 mm. Start the test. The equipment will automatically record force values during peeling and calculate the peel strength of the sample.
7、Repeat steps 3 to 6 to prepare and test a total of 3 specimens.
