Uses: It is suitable for measuring the ability of pressure sensitive adhesive tape to maintain adhesion under certain weight in parallel direction under continuous heating. Shear strength (shear strength) is the ability of adhesive tape as a substrate applied to the same plane to resist static forces.

Meaning of application: The shear failure temperature refers to the temperature at which the bonded region of the sample is subjected to shear failure when the sample is loaded with standard weight.

Overview of Test Methods

A strip of tape that is unwound at a controlled rate is attached to a standard steel plate. The steel plate is mounted vertically in an adjustable heating furnace and a standard weight is suspended from the free end of the tape. The temperature of the heating furnace increases steadily at a controlled rate to determine the time of shear failure.
